SERVICE DESCRIPTION:Provides a 28-week academic year program for high school students in their home community offering participation in educational, recreational or cultural events, exploration of postsecondary education opportunities and campus visits, financial aid application assistance, group activities and tutorial sessions. Also provides a six-week residential summer program on the UAF campus for 40 participants focusing on academic development and postsecondary education opportunities.

Offers a Pathway-2-College (P-2-C) Program for 10 active Upward Bound juniors and seniors to attend a six-week college preparation opportunity through exposure to residential campus life and university-level studies with the support of a staff mentor. Students attend university courses during the UAF summer session and can earn 7-8 college credits.

FEES:Pathway-2-College: No fee for tuition, textbooks, laboratory supplies, or room and board.

INTAKE:Call, email or visit the website. Applications can also be requested from any local Upward Bound Coordinator.

ELIGIBILITY:Low-income first generation college students in grades 9-12. Students must attend one of the 13 target high schools: Chevak, Glennallen, Kake, Kotzebue, Minto, Nanwalek, New Stuyahok, Nikiski, Saint Mary's, Seward, Shishmaref, Togiak and Wrangell.
